About Us

According to the Department of Defense, American Indians and Alaska Natives have one of the highest representations in the armed forces, and Native American women are the fastest-growing population of veterans.

Our organization is dedicated to empowering Native American women warriors by providing the tools and support they need during active duty and beyond.

We assist in their transition from military service to civilian life through readjustment support, cultural connection, mental health and wellness resources, and career readiness programs.

Logo Meaning

The Native American Women Warriors (NAWW) logo is rich in symbolism, representing the dedication, strength, and cultural heritage of Native American women who have served in the U.S. military.

Key Elements and Their Meanings:

  1. Tipi – Represents home, community, and the foundation of Native traditions. It symbolizes the warriors' return home after serving their country.

  2. Crossed M-16 Rifles – Signify military service and defense. When positioned over the tipi, they symbolize that the warriors have returned home but remain committed to protecting their lands, families, and traditions.

  3. Feathers – Represent honor, courage, and the spiritual connection to Native heritage. Feathers are sacred in many Native American cultures and often symbolize recognition of bravery.

  4. Colors and Designs – Often incorporate Native motifs and colors that reflect the warrior spirit and cultural pride of Indigenous women.

Overall, the NAWW logo honors the legacy of Native American women warriors, recognizing their sacrifices, resilience, and continued commitment to their communities and heritage.

Support for Communities

The Native American Women Warriors (NAWW) support their communities through various initiatives aimed at empowering Native women veterans and strengthening Indigenous communities. Their efforts include:

  1. Veteran Support & Transition Assistance – Helping Native American women veterans adjust to civilian life by providing resources for mental health, wellness, career readiness, and cultural reintegration.

  2. Cultural Preservation & Advocacy – Promoting and preserving Native traditions, language, and heritage through educational programs, outreach, and cultural events.

  3. Community Engagement & Outreach – Partnering with tribal organizations, government agencies, and veteran groups to address issues affecting Native communities, including healthcare access, housing, and economic opportunities.

  4. Leadership & Mentorship – Encouraging Native women to take on leadership roles in their communities by offering mentorship, networking opportunities, and professional development programs.

  5. Honoring & Recognizing Native Women Veterans – Raising awareness about the contributions of Native American women in the military by organizing ceremonies, parades, and public recognition events.

Through these initiatives, the NAWW uplifts Native women warriors while ensuring their skills, experiences, and cultural values continue to benefit their communities.
